The branch of the Syrian Grain Corporation in Homs continues to receive wheat from farmers through the centers spread in the governorate with ease and ease.

The Governor of Homs, Engineer Bassam Parsik, said in a statement to reporters during his tour today of the wheat receiving centers that the received wheat is examined through specialized committees to ascertain the permissible percentages of the particles and impurities in it and thus determine the appropriate silo to receive it, pointing out that the marketed quantities are promising and the quality of the wheat is good.

In turn, Eng. Samir Salama, director of the Syrian Grain Corporation branch, indicated that marketing operations are carried out in 4 centers: Tal Kalakh, Shanshar, Homs and Al-Mushrifa silos, pointing out that the specialized committees examine, receive and store samples in an easy and without delay manner.

Engineer Younis Hamdan, Director of Homs Agriculture, explained that the areas planted in the governorate with irrigated and rainfed wheat for the current season amounted to 35,000 hectares, indicating that about 5,000 hectares of irrigated wheat and 5,500 hectares of rainfed wheat were harvested.

Hamdan added, “The marketing of grains from Palmyra takes place almost daily, from the orchards area to the silos of Homs,” pointing out that raising the price of a kilogram of wheat to 2000 Syrian pounds reflected positively on marketing for this year and was noticed through the voluntary marketing process of farmers towards the silos.

Engineer Ahmed Al-Khaled, director of Tal Kalakh silos, pointed out that it is the first center to receive wheat, as the receiving operations began on the 22nd of last May due to the early ripening of the crop. Receipts take place daily from the Tal Kalakh area and its environs, in addition to the eastern Tartous countryside and a large part of the Al-Qusayr area.

Engineer Shawkat Shahoud, director of Homs silos, indicated that the receiving operations began at the beginning of this month, and the value of the wheat was disbursed to farmers within 72 hours.
