The family from Dreieich in the Offenbach district is appalled by the threatening letter that affects their dog Bruno.

The garden will now be checked before it is allowed out.

Dreieich – The sweet couple in Sprendlingen is shocked.

Last week she received a letter threatening her five-month-old miniature dachshund "Bruno" with death: "If you don't stop your stupid mutt from barking disgustingly right away, you should be very careful.

Such an animal sometimes swallows a poisoned piece of sausage faster than you can see.” The letter that came in the mail is signed anonymously with “Your annoyed neighbors”, as op-online.de reports.

Marion Süss-Plonka can hardly believe it, she has been living with her family in Wilhelm-Busch-Weg in Sprendlingen for so many years.

The neighborhood is always peaceful and friendly.

“We've only had Bruno for five weeks.

Yes, in the beginning he barked at every movement on the fence - at cars, dogs, children, cats," says the new dog owner.

The little dachshund, who at this moment is lying peacefully dozing in the sun and is not a bit upset about noises in the neighborhood, grew up on a plot of more than 5500 square meters in the country.

Bruno barks: annoyed neighbor sends threatening letter to the dog in Dreieich (Offenbach district)

The background noise was simply foreign to the puppy and intimidated him.

In his defence, Bruno chose to bark once more to scare away potential attackers.

"It was loud in the first two weeks," admits Holger Suess.

But since then the little male has settled in.

Children in front of the garden fence have long stopped bothering him, the garbage truck and a honking horn don't bother him, and it's very rare that he rushes to the fence barking.

“It is important to us that Bruno experiences something new every day, that he becomes safe and confident.

We go to the puppy play lesson, get good advice there and I deal with the subject of dog training.

We also have no interest in him barking all day long.

And we are on the right track”, Marion Süss-Plonka is satisfied with the learning process of her miniature dachshund.

Always report poisoned baits to the police

In the case of the dachshund Bruno, it is initially a threat.

But again and again there are reports of dogs dying because of poisoned baits from dog haters.

A spokesman for the police headquarters in Southeast Hesse in Offenbach confirms this. He advises reporting every poisoned bait to the police: "Then we can immediately publish the location via social media and warn other dog owners.

Besides, we can only catch a perpetrator if we know about it." (njo)

It has already happened that in Dreieich a dog died from such poisoned baits.

It is an agonizing death for the animal.

The couple would have coped well with a personal criticism from a neighbor who felt disturbed: "Then come by, ring the bell and talk about it," Süss-Plonka is still horrified.

Her husband adds: "This way of solving conflicts is cowardly, we think it's disgusting and reported the threatening letter to the police." The officers took the letter with them and handed it over to the investigators.

However, this does not mean that Marion Süss-Plonka is done with the subject.

She posts the story of the threatening letter on the neighborhood WhatsApp group.

"The response is overwhelming, the neighbors are just as horrified as we are," reports the Bruno owner that the women are backing her.

However, the nasty threat has left its mark on her: "If I just think about something that could happen to Bruno, then tears come to my eyes," says Marion Süss-Plonka.

The couple now always takes a close look in the garden before letting their dachshund roam around there.
