He can't help it: Donald Trump downplayed the uprising again on January 6 and once again attacked his own former Vice President Mike Pence.

WASHINGTON DC - The special committee on the January 6 US Capitol storm is on hiatus over the weekend.

But not Donald Trump.

The former US President once again attacked the Washington DC investigation, this time during a speech at the Faith and Freedom Conference, an ultra-conservative and fundamentally Christian event in Nashville, Tennessee.

According to Donald Trump, it is "no coincidence that the same people who spread the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax" are now the ones pushing the investigation into the alleged Washington DC riot.

During the "alleged riot," a mob gained entry into Capitol buildings, rampaged in the halls of the Senate and House of Representatives before being pushed back by overwhelmed Capitol police.

At least five people died in the January 6 storming of the Capitol.

Donald Trump railed against Mike Pence again

One of the mob's targets was Mike Pence.

On that day, the Vice President had the task of ratifying Joe Biden's election victory and thereby declaring him President.

The insurgents wanted to prevent this and therefore chanted "Hang Mike Pence" on the steps of the Capitol.

Donald Trump, himself never really a man of faith, takes the opportunity in front of the ultra-religious crowd of fans to attack the very faithful Mike Pence again: "Mike didn't have the courage to act.

He could have done history, but he was scared of whatever.”

Donald Trump compares himself to Martin Luther King

Donald Trump once again downplayed the storming of the Capitol itself.

"It was a simple protest that got out of control," Trump said of the Jan. 6 events.

On the other hand, the voted-out US President did not belittle his audience at all that day.

"I think it was the largest crowd of people I've ever spoken to," Trump said.

He kept saying how big the audience was.

Donald Trump then drew parallels between himself and Martin Luther King and compared the size of his audience with that of the famous civil rights activist.

"There were more," Trump said of his people: "Identical, but more."

On Thursday, at a public meeting of the committee investigating the attack on the US Capitol, new details about the chaotic hours of that day were revealed.

Donald Trump, however, denigrated the committee and called its members "impostors".

"Each of them is a left-wing hater who hates you all," Trump told his audience.
