Former US President Donald Trump has once again publicly attacked his then Vice President Mike Pence.
"Mike didn't have the courage to act," Trump said Friday in Nashville, Tennessee, at an event hosted by an ultra-conservative religious organization.
Pence had a chance to be "historic" on January 6, 2021.
"But Mike was afraid, whatever he was afraid of."
On Thursday, at a public meeting of the committee of inquiry into the storming of the US Capitol, new details about the chaotic hours of that day were revealed.
Trump again denounced the committee and its members in his speech.
It's about "impostors".
"Each of them is a left-wing hater who hates you all," Trump told his audience.
»Love and Patriotism«
Hundreds of Trump supporters had stormed the seat of parliament in Washington at the time.
Congress met there to formally confirm the election victory of Trump's democratic challenger Joe Biden.
The violent crowd wanted to prevent that.
At that time, Pence chaired the congress session in his role as Vice President – legally a purely ceremonial task.
Trump had previously publicly called on his deputy to block the procedure – in order to subsequently help him win the election.
Shortly before the attack on the Capitol, Trump once again incited his supporters at a rally that his election victory had been stolen.
He had previously repeatedly spoken of electoral fraud and declared himself the winner.
During this speech, there was “an incredible love and patriotism” in the air in the audience, Trump said.
Only a small percentage went to the Capitol afterwards.
And of those, too, »many would not have done anything wrong«.
YouTube removes a video of the committee of inquiry
The attack killed several people and injured dozens.
At the time, Trump supporters were looking for Pence in the building, whom they called a traitor and threatened to hang.
In the United States, a committee of inquiry is currently examining the extent to which Donald Trump is responsible for the violent clashes.
This same committee has now been rebuked by Google's video subsidiary.
YouTube has removed a video from its site that the investigative committee had uploaded.
The reason given was that the video in question contained false information from former US President Donald Trump about the 2020 presidential election.
According to the video portal's rules, "content that contains false claims about alleged changes in the results of the 2020 US presidential election through widespread fraud, error or glitches is prohibited" unless "adequate context is provided," a company spokeswoman said on Friday.
YouTube implements its "regulations for everyone the same," emphasized the spokeswoman.
Therefore, the service also removed the video of the committee of inquiry.
The committee initially did not comment on the incident when asked.
