With 35.1 degrees Celsius, a new heat record for June 18 was reached in Saxony.
The peak temperature was measured on Saturday at 3.30 p.m. in Plauen (Vogtland), said a meteorologist from the German Weather Service on request.
The previous maximum was from 2002 with 33.8 degrees Celsius in Leipzig-Holzhausen.
