Davis Cup professional Oscar Otte missed the next surprise and the first ATP final of his career at the lawn tournament in Halle, Westphalia.
The 28-year-old tennis player from Cologne had to admit defeat to world number one Daniil Medvedev 6:7 (3:7), 3:6 in the semifinals on Saturday, despite a strong performance at times.
A good week before the start of the grass classic in Wimbledon, Otte proved his strong form, especially in the first round when he inflicted the Russian's first loss of serve of the tournament.
Halle/Westphalia – After 1:37 hours, Medvedev converted his first match point with an ace against the German number two.
Last year's US Open winner now meets the winner of the game between Hubert Hurkacz from Poland and Nick Kyrgios from Australia in Halle.
In Wimbledon (June 27 to July 10) Medvedev is not allowed to participate due to the ban on Russian and Belarusian players because of Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine.
