(CNN Spanish) --

In the last few hours, users on Twitter pointed out that some non-real results of the Registrar's Office on the elections in Colombia had become visible.

On the night of Friday, June 17, the presidential candidate Gustavo Petro published a video on his social networks with the text "Let the Registry explain" in which a platform was seen with what appears to be test data or a simulation of results. by departments for the second round, data that could also be seen reflected since Friday in a widget from three weeks ago published by CNN.

Although the Registrar's Office says that drills are not carried out, a magistrate from the National Electoral Council assured CNN that they confirmed to him that a contractor did a simulation.

The Registry said in a statement this Saturday that "before the publication of videos and images where figures appear prior to the vote of the second round of the presidential election, the National Registry of Civil Status informs that the entity does not make simulations or statistical projections on results".

CNN en Español contacted Luis Guillermo Pérez, magistrate of the National Electoral Council, who confirmed that there was a simulation of data through the contractor company Indra in the press room of the Registrar's Office.

“The Director of Information Technology at the Registrar's Office told me.

They did it in the Press Room of the Registrar's Office, although the official statement from the Registrar's Office tries to deny that information, "he said in an interview with CNN.

Indra is an information technology company that provides software in the electoral process, according to the Registrar's Office.

CNN contacted Indra about this episode and awaits a response from the company.

"The video (that Petro released) is real, I corroborate it as a magistrate of the National Electoral Council," he added.

Pérez said on his Twitter account on Saturday morning: I am confirmed by the @Registraduria that this 'simulation' was indeed carried out in the entity through the contracting firm @IndraenColombia @IndraCompany on random data from municipalities and departments, I demand as CNE magistrate to the company and the @Registraduria an explanation".

CNN contacted the Registrar's Office and awaits a direct response on the alleged simulation.

The CNN en Español page included in several of its contents about the first presidential round in Colombia a widget fed with automated data from the Registrar's Office.

The widget published in the contents of May 29 and 30 on cnne.com automatically showed those data from the Registrar's Office since Friday, which replaced the data system of the first round, and which also corresponded to those that appeared in the shared video by the candidate.

Several users on Twitter noticed this error.

Through a WhatsApp group with the media for coordination with the engineers and designers who build these widgets, an official from the Registry indicated on June 13 that "tests" would be carried out on the data platform for the Second round.

The widget was exclusively intended to show the results of the first round that took place on May 29.

Test data from the Registrar's Office was not expected to be displayed in the May 29 widget.

On the morning of this Saturday, May 18, CNN en Español removed the widget from those contents on its website so that information that did not correspond to the results of the first round would no longer be displayed, as was the purpose of those publications three weeks ago.

We will continue to report accurate information on this juncture and are working to ensure that the results widget reflects only actual and verified results.
