Fatal accident this morning, around 10.15 at Campovolo in Reggio Emilia.
Two paratroopers,
Fabrizio Del Giudice and Gabriele Grossi
, aged 54 and 35, lost their lives when they fell to the ground from a height of about fifty meters.
According to what they learned, the two -
expert paratroopers with hundreds of jumps behind
them - would have had an open-flight collision and the wires of their parachutes would have intertwined, thus causing the fall to the ground.
118 and the State Police intervened on the spot.
Despite the attempts of rescuers for the two paratroopers, there was nothing to be done.
According to what has been reconstructed so far by the agents of the Reggio Emilia Police Headquarters, at the time of the accident there were
32 paratroopers in formation
who were participating in a
choreography
to
set a flight record
.
The race was organized by
the Body Fly University company
and Del Giudice had also participated in the organization of the event.
It seems that Grossi, the younger of the two paratroopers, both very experienced, in the final phase of the descent got too close to Del Giudice, crashing into him and causing both of them to fall to the ground.
"At about 10.15, on the occasion of a record attempt organized by the Aeroclub of Pisa, with 32 paratroopers and two videoman, in the final landing phase, about 50 meters above the ground, two very expert paratroopers with thousands of jumps to their assets and both instructors collided. The extremely low altitude and the violence of the impact precluded any attempt to resolve the twisting of the two sails and the two fell to the ground ".
So
Body Fly University
, the company that took care of the skydiving event today at Campovolo in Reggio Emilia in which Fabrizio Del Giudice and Gabriele Grossi lost their lives explains the dynamics of the event in a press release shared on Facebook.
"The immediate interventions of the doctors present in the field with the defibrillator and the timely arrival of the self-medications and the helicopter rescue - we read - could not prevent the death of both despite the very long attempt at resuscitation".
