Three people were killed and five others were injured in an attack by militants on a camp for road construction workers in Balochistan province, southwest Pakistan.
The Associated Press quoted provincial government spokeswoman Farah Azim Shah as saying, "The armed men attacked and opened fire yesterday on a camp that is part of a local company working on a road construction project in the Harnai district, killing three people and wounding five others."
She indicated that the militants also burned vehicles and destroyed machinery in the mountainous part of the area.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but the region, which is rich in minerals and gas, is witnessing similar attacks targeting foreign workers.
