In addition to Saharan dust, hot Saharan air also brings temperatures of up to 37 degrees.

Will records be broken on Saturday?

The sun burns from the cloudless sky.

Nuremberg - "Authentic desert feeling" announced weather expert Stefan Ochs the day before for Saturday, June 18th.

Because then we get hot air from the Sahara.

Weather in Bavaria: Sahara air, sun and a cloudless sky on Saturday

He confirmed that on Saturday morning: "Hot air from the Sahara, a cloudless sky and the sun at its seasonal high", the temperatures would therefore skyrocket.

Up to 36 degrees are possible.

A light wind is blowing from the southwest.

"At the same time, a fairly high concentration of Saharan dust is expected," says the expert on his Wetterochs website.

There he publishes a daily forecast for the Regnitz catchment area (Franconian Alb, Steigerwald, Nürnberger Land, Aischgrund, Zenngrund).

Sahara dust in Bavaria - heat wave gives the Free State a tropical night

But unlike the big sandstorms in spring, the dust in the desert was not whirled up so high and is therefore more likely to reach us in lower layers of the air, they say.

Because it absorbs the thermal radiation emanating from the ground, the dust dampens the nocturnal cooling, according to Ochs.

In the night to Sunday it should therefore not cool below 20 degrees in many places.

The weather expert speaks of a tropical night.

A cold front is approaching from the north on Sunday, which can trigger individual showers and thunderstorms on the Main in the afternoon.

"Otherwise the sun will shine almost undisturbed and there will probably be no precipitation," according to the weather expert's forecast.

The temperatures climb to a maximum of 36 to 38 degrees.

Temperatures in Bavaria on course for an all-time record?

- Cold front is approaching

"That's close to the all-time records (Bamberg 38.2, Nuremberg 38.6 and Roth 37.0 degrees)," explains Ochs.

“The cold front will cross us on Monday.

It is not yet possible to say whether this will result in significant rainfall or thunderstorms.” Depending on when and how intensively the cold front crosses Bavaria, a maximum of 23 to 30 degrees will be reached.

The north-west wind freshens up at times.

And it seems to be warm: the weather expert is also predicting a sunny and dry day for Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Bavaria is threatened by muggy, warm air and thunderstorms.

The temperatures reach 28 degrees.
