"Death is not our job": palliative care in battle order before the debate on euthanasia

“Even if bad winds rise, we will continue to fight to make the voice of caregivers heard.

To say loud and clear that the hand that heals cannot be the hand that kills and always repeat that giving death is not a cure (…) I am a doctor, death is not my job.

These powerful words resonate in the great hall of the Palais 2 l'Atlantique, in Bordeaux.

From June 15 to 17, the French Society for Support and Palliative Care held its 28th congress there.

The rally looked like a vigil of arms on the eve of a new debate on the end of life, announced by Emmanuel Macron for his second term, and perhaps a law on euthanasia or assisted suicide.
