With the participation of about 400 orphans and missing family care children residing in social care homes in Damascus, “My Country” Association, in cooperation with Soriana Academy, organized today an entertainment event entitled “Flame of Hope” in Al-Jalaa Sports City in Damascus.

The event included sports performances and dances for rhythmic gymnastics with the participation of Syrian, Arab and foreign players, in addition to honoring 75 male and female athletes who performed a variety of performances during the event.

Dr. Ruba Mirza, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “My Country” Association, indicated that the aim of the event is to create an interactive and entertaining atmosphere for children, explaining that the association’s activities focus on caring for the family in general, especially children and the elderly, and empowering women, in addition to establishing cultural, scientific and developmental activities and supporting creators in various governorates, pointing out that Since its establishment in 2019, the association has launched two programs, the first shedding light on success stories in the community, and the second on reviving a number of traditional and handicraft activities in a number of Damascus and its countryside.

Among the social care homes participating in the event, Baraa Al-Ayoubi, director of the Al-Rahma Orphan Care House, pointed out that social activities have a role in promoting the growth and strengthening of the child’s personality, explaining that the orphanage provides accommodation, education, health and social care services for about 400 boys and girls from one year old to university level.

The social worker of the Children’s Villages Association (SOS) Muhammad Masoud praised the role of various activities in integrating children who lack family care into the community and identifying their talents to develop them, indicating that the association cares for children through two villages, the first in Qudsaya and the second in Al-Saboura in Damascus countryside.

Diana Darwish, director of the Soriana Academy of Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics, expressed her happiness with the participation of the academy's players in an activity for children to encourage and introduce them to this type of sport.
