Al-Bish explained in a statement to SANA that the discrepancy in the number of days between the two seasons is due to the Earth not moving at a constant speed in its elliptical orbit around the sun. Next time, at 9.13 am Damascus time, according to the timing of the timetables for the seasons for this year in the north, and on Wednesday at 21.48 in the south.
Al-Bish pointed out that this astronomical event is caused by the Earth’s tilt on its axis and its movement in its orbit around the sun by 35.5 degrees, and that this solstice in the northern hemisphere represents the beginning of summer, the longest day of the year, early dawn and late sunset, long days and short nights, indicating that the sun is at its height and is The sky crosses its orbit at the farthest relative distance from the Earth at more than 152 million km and meanwhile winter begins in the Southern Hemisphere.
Al-Bish added: It is known that all locations north of the equator have days longer than 12 hours in the June solstice, and at the same time, all locations south of the equator have days shorter than 12 hours, and the solstice occurs at the same time everywhere on the surface of the planet, indicating that many The people of the world celebrate this special day.
