At about 11 pm yesterday (19th), the police received a report from a man in Gao Wah Building, 285-295A Lockhart Road, Wanchai, that his brother was sitting on a clothes drying rack with a sharp knife.

Rescue workers arrived after receiving the report and found the victim sitting on a clothes drying rack in a lower-floor unit. The firefighters immediately deployed the life-saving air pads, and police negotiators were also called to the scene to persuade him.

The source said that at the time of the incident, the victim was locked in the unit room with a 10-month-old baby girl. Later, the victim climbed out of the window and sat on the clothes drying rack. The baby girl was taken away in time without injury.

From what was seen at the scene, there were women in the house pulling the victim's shirt to prevent him from falling off the building; the victim looked around from time to time.

However, as of nearly 2 am on the 20th, he has not returned to a safe position.

Affected by the accident, Lockhart Road at the scene needed to be closed, and traffic was blocked.
