The celebrations of the Hohenlinden fire brigade almost ended with a festival service outdoors and a pageant.

But only almost.

Hohenlinden/district – “Who are we actually?

Or: What do people think we are?” And that is exactly what follows: What do you actually stand for?”.

Three questions that fire brigade chaplain Matthias Holzbauer from Glonn focused on in his extra-short sermon at a festive church service in Hohenlinden.

Holzbauer addressed the questions to a few hundred firefighters from numerous local fire services in the district and from the neighborhood, who were taking part in the 150-year celebration of the Hohenlinden comrades.

The Glonner didn't owe an answer.

And neither did Pastor Christoph Stürzer, who still described clubs such as the fire brigades, but also warrior and reservist associations as in Hohenlinden, even after 150 years of existence, as places of encounter and help.

This is exactly where the direct implementation of the words of Jesus lies, so to speak, who emphasized again and again during his ministry how important it was to help one another.

Holzbauer and Stürzer also used the festival service to promote a new cohesion in the form of closer ties.

There were several anniversaries to be celebrated, especially yesterday.

50 years Hohenlinden folk festival about.

150 years of fire brigade association Hohenlinden, but also 150 years of camaraderie of warriors and reservists.

And last but not least, the celebratory blessing of a new LF 20 fire engine, which was officially put into service with the Hohenlinden fire brigade yesterday (Sunday).

A good 90 clubs attended the celebrations, which started with a church procession in the morning.

An altar had been erected on the meadow behind the Wendlandhaus for the festival service.

And lots of umbrellas, under which the many hundreds of participants found at least a little shade in view of the blazing sun of this June day, which was not even a summer day according to the calendar.

Thank God the organizers had also thought of providing the participants in the service with drinking water throughout.

This was supported by the Schwaben private brewery Schweiger with a corresponding donation in kind.

For two years, an organizational team had prepared the festival weekend with the festival Sunday as the highlight, said Anton Speckmaier, head of the fire brigade association, during the service.

The FFW Hohenlinden was by no means forced to organize the district fire brigade day.

On the contrary: In 2011, when there was a district meeting of this kind in Hohenlinden for the last time, applications were made with a view to the 150th anniversary.

The church part of the morning lasted a good hour.

After that, the procession, accompanied by at least four bands, set off again in the direction of the fairground.

There, the participants were greeted, so to speak, by seven fire engines, some of them brand new, which had one thing in common: They all come from the production of the Hohenlinden-based company Lentner.

Mathias Hausmann and his colleagues answered all the questions that arose.

The fire brigades in Markt Schwaben, Peißenberg and Geisenhausen (near Landshut) made their "treasures" available for the exhibition especially for the Hohenlinden Festival.

By the way: The FFW vehicle that is also on display will not be handed over until tomorrow, Tuesday,
