For the second time, the heads of state and government of the G7 countries are meeting in Bavaria at Schloss Elmau.
The conference venue is now cordoned off - the area is taboo for hikers.
Munich - A week before the G7 summit, the police hermetically sealed off the conference venue Schloss Elmau in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Since Sunday morning, only those who can show accreditation have had access.
The area is taboo for tourists.
G7 summit in Elmau - security zone already active - area completely cordoned off
Around the castle there is a 16 kilometer long and sometimes meter high barrier.
This shields a security zone with a total area of four square kilometers around the luxury hotel where the heads of state and government of the G7 countries will meet from June 26th to 28th.
Tens of thousands of manhole covers in the area were also sealed for safety reasons.
The barrier around Elmau Castle consists partly of wire mesh fence and partly of avalanche protection structures.
There is no roadblock on around eight of the 16 kilometers, but officers are on guard around the clock.
Fence elements were flown into rough terrain by helicopter.
Wire loops were placed around trees - to protect the trunks on mats - to which the fence is attached.

G7 summit in Elmau: security zone has already caused displeasure among locals
There was already such a barrier at the first G7 summit at Schloss Elmau seven years ago - even then it caused resentment among the locals.
The G7 planning staff of the police explained: "The fact that such a security area is constitutional in view of the high level of danger to the summit participants was confirmed by the Federal Constitutional Court in its decisions at the past G8 summit in 2007 in Heiligendamm."
Even before the actual start, there had been the first police operations.
A sniffer dog sounded the alarm and triggered a large-scale operation in the G7 summit area.
In addition, unsecured weapons and secret documents were discovered during a border check
