Berlin's governing mayor Franziska Giffey (44) and faction leader Raed Saleh (45) are still at the head of the Berlin SPD.
At the state party conference on Sunday in Berlin-Neukölln, Giffey received 58.9 percent of the votes, Saleh 57.4 percent.
The results for the leadership duo are significantly worse than when they were first elected about a year and a half ago.
Berlin – In November 2020, Giffey came to around 89 percent, Saleh to around 69 percent.
Last year, the duo led the party in the election campaign for the House of Representatives.
There, the SPD is the strongest faction, with Saleh as chairman, just ahead of the Greens.
Giffey has been Governing Mayor at the head of the new Red-Green-Red Senate since December.
