After having suffocated during several days of heat wave, France could suffer the lightning of the storms.

This is what forecasters from Météo France are predicting this Sunday evening.

“A stormy degradation will take place at the start of the evening in New Aquitaine and will spread towards the Centre, Île-de-France and then to the Belgian border”, writes Météo France in its latest bulletin.

“These storms could be locally violent, with high rainfall intensities that could give significant accumulations in a short time, violent gusts of wind, a risk of hail and high electrical activity”, anticipates the public establishment.

Météo France warns that the neighboring departments in yellow vigilance for the storm parameter could be victims of locally violent cells.

This is why 52 departments from Lot-et-Garonne to Bas-Rhin via Île-de-France are thus placed on orange alert, most for these risks of violent phenomena, others, more particularly in the 'Is, due to the heat wave.

Indeed, this Sunday, the heat moved to the more eastern regions with 37 ° C recorded in Strasbourg in particular.

Eleven departments in orange this Monday morning

According to Météo France, the heat wave should gradually give way overnight from Sunday to Monday, under the effect of thunderstorms in particular.

A “stormy degradation” which should take place at the start of the evening in New Aquitaine and spread towards the Centre, Île-de-France and then to the Belgian border.

It will have the advantage of lowering the temperature.

Only eleven departments should still be colored orange at daybreak on Monday on the maps: Jura, Saône-et-Loire, Allier, Puy-de-Dôme, Cantal, Haute-Loire, Loire, the Rhône, the Ain, the Isère and the Drôme.

This Monday, the very high temperatures of the past few days will ease, except in Lyonnais.

Nighttime temperatures will indeed drop and become more breathable.

In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Rhône-Alpes, the thermometer will still show 31 to 36 degrees.

"Saturday's day, with an average temperature of 27.4°C recorded on the metropolitan territory" will nonetheless remain as "the 19th hottest day ever recorded since the start of the thermal indicator", i.e. 1947, ends Christelle Robert of Météo France.
