She came in slightly ahead of the first round in the sixth constituency of Pas-de-Calais, with 32.10% of the vote against 30.22 for the candidate of the National Rally.
The appointment of Brigitte Bourguignon was one of the outstanding appointments of this new government.
This 63-year-old former socialist, MP for Pas-de-Calais since 2012, had held the position of president of the Social Affairs Committee of the National Assembly before joining the previous government, as Minister Delegate in charge of Autonomy.
