Five years ago, their arrival in the hemicycle was only an open secret.
Christophe Castaner and Richard Ferrand, who had established themselves as figures in the campaign for the youngest president of the Fifth Republic, were quietly going to be elected in their respective constituencies, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and in Finistère.

This time, the situation was radically different.
The fault with the union of the left, which placed behind the two men of the candidates much more threatening in terms of vote.
This Sunday evening, the two men were both eliminated in the second round of the legislative elections.
In the 6th district of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Christophe Castaner fails with 48.5% of the vote.
The former president of the National Assembly for his part admitted his defeat in a statement to the press.
The RN was strong in these two constituencies
In the first round, the former Minister of the Interior found himself in a delicate position.
Admittedly, he had come out on top.
But with only 292 tiny votes ahead of his opponent from Nupes, the rebellious Léo Walter.
And with the National Rally comfortably installed in third position with more than 23% of the votes, the pool of votes accessible to the outgoing deputy seemed very uncertain.
Christophe Castaner, he tried to reassure himself between the two rounds by stressing that his score in the first round was higher than that achieved during the presidential election by Emmanuel Macron in his constituency.
I note the result in my constituency with great sadness.
This mandate has allowed me to be at the service of our territory, which I love passionately.
Thank you to those who trusted me.
I wish the best to Léo Walter and to our Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.

The deal was almost the same for the President of the National Assembly Richard Ferrand, who came out on top in the first round last Sunday in the 6th constituency of Finistère.
He was ahead with more than 33% of the votes his competitor Nupes from the Socialist Party Mélanie Thomin, beaten with just under 1200 votes.
Again, the National Rally was ranked third, behind at 14.51% of the vote.
In terms of vote carryover, Richard Ferrand could hope to count on the votes awarded in the first round to candidate LR Gaëlle Nicolas, who crossed the 10% mark last week.
