Legislative results 2022: Together! without an absolute majority, Nupes and RN fill up on seats, LR in ambush

According to the first estimates, the macronists will have to deal with Les Républicains in the Assembly. The united left now appears as the first opposition force to the executive.

Towards an ungovernable country?

According to the first Ifop estimates of the second round of the 2022 legislative elections, the Macronist confederation “Together!”

did not obtain an absolute majority, with 210 to 250 seats.

In other words, even in the best of cases, LREM, the MoDem, and Horizons, will not have enough deputies in the National Assembly to have a free hand, and prevent Emmanuel Macron from going through coalitions.

If the Nupes fails to propel Jean-Luc Mélenchon to Matignon, however, it now appears as the first opposition force to the executive.

Credited with 150 to 180 constituencies, the united left is about to triple its troops in the hemicycle.

And for good reason, under the previous legislature, the combination of rebels, socialists, communists and environmentalists represented only around fifty elected officials.

Republicans save the furniture

Double presidential finalist, in 2017 then in 2022, Marine Le Pen will take the lead of a powerful group at the Palais Bourbon.

Traditionally disadvantaged by the single-member voting system, the National Rally could win some 80 to 100 deputies.

A first since 1986, and the parenthesis allowed at the time by the ephemeral introduction of proportional representation, where the FN had obtained 35.

Finally, Les Républicains remain in ambush, despite less good results than five years ago.

Although the right, given 60 or 70 seats, can only save two-thirds of the hundred or so elected it has counted so far, it is counting on the absence of an absolute majority to hope to play a key role in the five years to come.

And make themselves unavoidable on the adoption of certain texts, as required by the relative majority.
