Martina Patti, 23, accused of the murder last Monday in Mascalucia, with eleven stab wounds of her daughter Elena, 5, spent her fifth night in a cell in the prison of Piazza Lanza, in Catania.
She is
closely monitored by the prison police
for fear that she may perform some self-injurious act or that other inmates may attack her.
Her lawyer Gabriele Celesti, who said that the woman "
is not serene
", is evaluating what the defensive strategies will be for the next steps of the proceedings, after the investigating judge has validated the arrest and ordered pre-trial detention in prison.
A decision made because according to judge Daniela Monaco Crea the suspect could return to kill, pollute the evidence and flee.
Meanwhile
, the diocese of Catania is organizing the funeral of the child
that will take place next Wednesday, in the Cathedral of Catania, celebrated by the metropolitan archbishop Luigi Renna, in which a large turnout of people is expected.
