The issue of the blocking percentage is on the agenda again:
Last Wednesday, MK Moshe Gafni presented a bill that seeks to reduce the blocking percentage to only two percent. She pressed the Likud members.
On Thursday evening, Netanyahu held a telephone conference with the leaders of the parties that Gafni did not attend regarding the blocking percentage, and tomorrow, too, the issue is expected to come up at a meeting of the leaders of the opposition parties in the Knesset.
Despite the thought that Netanyahu's bloc will want to help another right-wing party, which may be formed in the future as a party led by Amichai Shikli, the Likud's position says that on the other side, in the left bloc, there are quite a few parties swinging around the blocking percentage. Assist them and therefore the prevailing opinion is not to promote such a law at this time.
