More than a year after he was hospitalized: Itzik Saidian will speak at an event in Sheba Israel today

An IDF invalid who set himself on fire a year ago in protest of the treatment of combat casualties will attend an event of the Friends Association

Itzik Saidian will speak tonight (Sunday) for the first time on stage at an event of the Sheba Friends Association, more than a year after he set himself on fire in protest in front of the offices of the Rehabilitation Division at the Ministry of Defense in Petah Tikva.

Saidian will speak at Sheba Hospital, where he has been hospitalized for the past year.

As you may recall, in April 2021, Saidian arrived at the offices of the Rehabilitation Division in Petah Tikva, pulled out a bottle with flammable material and set himself on fire.

The incident took place, poetically and perhaps intentionally, a few days before Remembrance Day.

Since that moment, the whole country has been following the process of Saidian's recovery.

The event provoked many reactions from senior political figures and celebrities, and many even visited Saidian at the hospital.

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz arrived with singer David D'Or, who sang a song in honor of Saidian, and also Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, who said after the visit: .

This is an opportunity to say goodbye to the doctors, nurses and hospital staff about the hard work, you are saving people in your work. "

After the arson incident, the chairman of the IDF Disabled People's Organization, Idan Kliman, said: It is time to internalize and recognize that the Ministry of Defense's Disability Rehabilitation Division is severely damaging the well-being, health and well-being of IDF disabled and disabled people. "Israel has given the state what is most precious to them - and is left to their own devices. We will do everything in our power to change this sad reality."

The whole country was happy when Saidian's condition improved, and his action even managed to achieve an improvement in the attitude towards post-traumatic and battle-stricken soldiers, as the number of referrals from soldiers increased.
