Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Eshtia announced today (Sunday) that the Palestinians are demanding that Israel hand over the rifle from which the bullet was fired in the Jenin incident in which al-Jazeera journalist Shirin Abu Aqla was killed. On the 40th anniversary of her death.
Her wife reiterated that the Palestinian side opposes handing over to Israel the bullet that killed Sheerin, and also rejects a joint investigation.
"Whoever forges a history of a people, and steals land and homeland, is able to forge a narrative, and we do not trust them (in Israel), so we resisted handing over the bullet, and we demand to hand over the rifle that killed Sheerin Abu Akala," her wife said.

The event was also attended by Palestinian Authority Deputy Chairman Abu Mazen of the Fatah movement, Mahmoud El-Alul, who said that "the prosecution, the Palestinian security and judicial bodies conducted a transparent and professional investigation that showed the truth, and it was handed over to the relevant international bodies."
The Palestinians conducted an independent investigation into the case of Sheerin's death, and have so far refused Israel's repeated requests to conduct a joint investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident, which undermines the ability to determine the source of the shooting from which Abu Akla was killed.
