Occupied Jerusalem - SANA

The Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission confirmed that the Israeli occupation authorities continue the policy of deliberate medical neglect against the prisoners inside their prisons, in violation of all international agreements and laws related to their right to receive treatment and provide them with full health care.

In a statement today, the commission revealed the deterioration of the health status of three prisoners in Nafha detention, the prisoner Shadi Gawadra, 34 years old, who has been detained since 2003 and suffers from tumors in the chest and complications from being hit by seven bullets during his arrest, which caused him respiratory problems, stomach and head pain. He urgently needs an operation, but the occupation authorities refuse to do so.

As for the prisoner Khaled Abu Amsha, 59, who has been detained since 2006, the commission explained that he suffers from several problems in the heart and lungs, while the prisoner Marwan Abdel Aziz, who has been detained since 2007, has suffered from severe dental problems for more than 10 years.

The commission called on human rights institutions and the International Committee of the Red Cross to play their necessary role towards the issue of prisoners, especially the sick, and to stop the violations of the occupation against them.
