The Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, confirmed that the National Center for Excellence in Homs, which is being rehabilitated, will be the nucleus of a scientific center at the level of the Arab world, as it is equipped with all the requirements of practical and technical development.
Minister Tabbaa’s statements to reporters came in the wake of a meeting held at the center, which included representatives from the Ministry of Education, Homs Governorate, the City Council, the Excellence and Creativity Authority, and the Arab Center for Studies of Dry Areas and Arid Lands (ACSD), where they discussed completing the final work of rehabilitating the center and securing the administrative and scientific cadres competent to teach in it and engineering cadres. Necessary to complete these works in addition to discussing the stages of implementing the ecological park project and the necessary procedures to open it next August.
Minister Tabaa noted the great efforts made by the Excellence and Creativity Authority to restore the center to service, as it was agreed with it to select teaching cadres from the Ministry of Education to be trained by the Authority, pointing out that the construction work will be carried out in cooperation with the governorate and the Arab Center for Studies of Dry Areas and Arid Lands (ACSD), which is being implemented Eco garden project.
In turn, the head of the Excellence and Creativity Authority, Engineer Hala Dakkak, stated that preparations for returning the center to service started 3 years ago, but due to the precautionary measures to address the Corona virus, the construction and rehabilitation work stopped, and this year it was resumed, and the teaching staff was prepared in preparation for the start of work in it at the beginning of the next academic year in cooperation with Homs Governorate The Ministry of Education and the Military Construction Corporation.
For his part, the Governor of Homs, Engineer Bassam Parsik, drew attention to the provision of the governorate and the city council with technical and technical support and working cadres in order to put the center into service as soon as possible.
The supervisor of engineering works at the center, Engineer Aya Nawiya, indicated that the general site in the center, which extends over an area of 85 acres and includes 28 blocks, has been rehabilitated, including 9 residence buildings for males, females and experts, two educational and health centers, a restaurant, a nanotechnology hall, a general supervisor building, administrative buildings, 3 laboratories, a warehouse and a library. Paper and electronic reading room and galleries for art, music and sports.
