At about 9 pm today (19th), the police and fire services received a report that a cow was found in a waterway in the bridge village of Tai Mo Shan, with suspected foot injuries.
Firefighters have rushed to the scene to rescue, but by 11:00 p.m., the cattle could not be rescued to a safe location.
The Lantau Buffalo Care Association also posted on Facebook, stating that it received help from the public. A cow fell into the water diversion channel and the water flow was fast. The Tsuen Wan Fire Station and the Fisheries and Conservation Department all sent personnel to the scene to inspect how to rescue it.
According to the video uploaded by the association, the water in the aqueduct was turbulent, and the cow was weak in limbs.
The association also pointed out that from the sitting position of the cow, it was very tense and tired. Firefighters and AFCD personnel could only use ropes from the road to tether the cow to prevent it from being washed away by the water.
The association also appeals to all cattle friends to help cheer up the frightened cattle and the rescuers on the scene, hoping that the rescue will be successful and the people and cattle will return home safely.
As of 11:15 pm, the association said that the cow had been rescued, and it was currently resting and trying to regain its strength.
Many netizens were worried when they heard about the incident. They pointed out that it continued to rain in Tsuen Wan, and they were worried that the water flow in the aqueduct would become more and more urgent. "Tsuen Wan was intermittently raining heavily, and I was worried that the water flow in the aqueduct would be more rapid. The firefighters on the scene came on to help Niu Niu." Some people cheered for the rescuers, hoping to rescue the cow as soon as possible, "Please rescue it quickly, thank you very much! Bless the cow!"
