THW Kiel wins game for 3rd place at premier class final4

THW Kiel has concluded the final 4 in the Champions League with a conciliatory victory.

The German handball record champion won the game for third place against Hungary's top club Telekom Veszprem 3-1 in a seven-meter throw in Cologne on Sunday and said goodbye to the summer break with a sense of achievement.

The day before, THW had lost its chance of a fifth triumph in the premier class with a 30:34 win in the semifinals against record winners FC Barcelona.

In the meaningless game against Veszprem, Kiel played on equal terms in the first 20 minutes, but then fell four goals behind before the break.

After the change, coach Filip Jicha's team mobilized the last reserves of strength and managed to equalize for the first time ten minutes before the end at 30:30.

In the duel from the seven-meter line, THW, for which Mykola Bilyk was the best thrower with seven goals, then had better nerves and an outstanding Niklas Landin in goal.

The Danish world champion fended off two throws.
