Just before the committee resumes its work in Washington DC, a former adviser to Donald Trump opens up.

Washington DC - It remains exciting in the USA.

Hearings in the Congressional Committee will continue on Tuesday (June 21).

Donald Trump continues to be the focus.

What role did the former President play the day a mob stormed the State Houses in Washington DC and five people died as a result of the riot?

The statements that have been made before the investigative committee weigh heavily on Donald Trump.

He is said to have incited the mob in advance.

He is said to have unconditionally pursued his plan to turn the election results upside down, sabotage the peaceful transfer of power and have himself declared president.

He was dissuaded by his own Attorney General, William Barr, who told him there was no evidence of voter fraud, and by his advisers, who told him what he was about to do was illegal and violated the US Constitution.

Instead, Trump is said to have harassed, insulted and threatened his Vice President Mike Pence to support him in his coup attempt.

Donald Trump sticks to his story - privately it looks different

But Donald Trump himself sticks to his story.

To date, the former US President has not even publicly admitted that he, not Joe Biden, won the 2020 election – despite recounts in individual states, countless investigations and more than 30 court decisions on the subject.

But in private it seems to be quite different.

At least, that's what Alyssa Farah Griffin, former White House director of strategic communications, claims.

Donald Trump is said to have long since admitted defeat to her.

"He blurted out watching Joe Biden on TV, 'Can you imagine I lost to this guy,'" Griffin said on CNN's State of the Union.

Donald Trump: Is he facing charges?

It is the clearest announcement yet that Donald Trump, contrary to his own claims, knows he has lost.

Despite this knowledge, however, the former US President decided to spread the story of voter fraud and to push for an overthrow of the US democratic system.

Neither his daughter Ivanka Trump, who was well informed about everything going on in the White House, nor his advisors could dissuade him.

But what does this realization mean for Donald Trump?

In any case, Griffin does not believe that the former US President now has to fear legal consequences or even an indictment.

"I don't think this will legally bring down Donald Trump," she said.

"But I think it will educate the public about a man who lost and was unable to do what we have always done throughout our history: facilitate a peaceful transition of power." (Daniel Dillmann)
