The new building of the St. Antonius kindergarten is 50 years old.

The Museum Erding is showing a special exhibition on the occasion of the anniversary.

Play equipment from five decades can be seen.

Erding

– “Children, how time flies!

50 years of new construction of the municipal kindergarten St. Antonius”, under this motto a special exhibition can be seen in the Museum Erding.

The show invites you to experience the history from 1972 to 2022 of the neighboring kindergarten on Prielmayerstrasse.

The time before that is also presented, when there was still talk of the "municipal children's sanctuary" in the Antoniusheim, today's old museum building.

"The museum was more than willing to develop a three-week exhibition with numerous photographs from the picture archive of the kindergarten as a supporting program for the anniversary," said museum director Harald Krause at the opening of the exhibition.

The history of the kindergarten is reproduced with text and 150 photos on seven partition walls.

In addition, five screens show the five decades in retrospect.

Selected historical toys from the kindergarten inventory are also on display.

The founding in 1855 goes back to the initiative of the town clerk Alois Mandl (1793-1863), who also founded the Stadtsparkasse Erding in 1826 and after whom a street is named.

After the war, the Order of the Poor School Sisters took over the Antoniusheim kindergarten.

In 1972 a new kindergarten was built in the garden next to the historical building.

Not all girls and boys had moved into the new building.

Some switched to military welfare, which was initially housed in the Antoniusheim and then in a new building on Rotkreuzstrasse.

Sister Simone (head of the kindergarten from 1982 to 2000) wrote numerous letters to the mayor and district administrator and successfully campaigned for the newly built kindergarten on Prielmayerstraße to be named St. Antonius.

The kindergarten on Rotkreuzstraße was renamed after St. Francis.

Today, 129 boys and girls attend the St. Antonius kindergarten.

It is headed by Kathrin Veladzik.

22 employees work there.
