80-year-old becomes a wrong-way driver on the A8: she just wanted to go shopping

She just wanted to go shopping quickly - an 80-year-old got lost on the A8 and turned her little red Skoda in the middle of the autobahn to drive back.

The ghost drive on the A8, which the highway police only reported on Sunday, June 19, because they are looking for witnesses, happened on Wednesday, June 15.
At around 1:15 p.m., the operations center of the Oberbayern Süd police headquarters was informed of a wrong-way driver who was traveling on the A8 on the Munich lane in the direction of Salzburg.
The vehicle is said to have been a small red Skoda Fabia, which was spotted near the Munich South motorway junction.
On the A8: Police patrol encounters the wrong-way driver near Hofolding
Several patrols from the nearby police inspection departments immediately set off.
A patrol from the traffic police inspection Hohenbrunn discovered the small red vehicle in the left lane at the level of the Hofolding rest area on the Munich lane.
The police stopped the car.

The driver is an 80-year-old from Oberhaching (Munich district).
She had wanted to go shopping.
She first pulled onto the freeway, then realized she was wrong and decided to turn around when there was no traffic coming from behind, police say.
A knee-jerk reaction.
Luckily there was no accident.

Nevertheless, the responsible motorway police station in Holzkirchen asks for relevant information on possible specific dangerous situations that other road users have noticed.

The old lady from Oberhaching will have to answer for endangering road traffic by driving against the direction of travel.
