A count shoots his partner and a 70-year-old friend to death at their home in Madrid and then commits suicide

2022-06-20T21:35:27.437Z

The alleged perpetrator of the shots had a history of gender violence and lived in the central street of Serrano, where the bodies have been found

After alarm calls from neighbors because "they had heard shots", agents of the National Police have located this Monday the bodies of three people in a house on the first floor of number 205 of the central Serrano street, in the Madrid district of Salamanca.

These are three adults, two women and a man, who have died "by firearm", a police spokeswoman has detailed, adding that they have received notice of the event after ten in the morning.

Alerted by the police, the Summa 112 has confirmed the death of these people around 10.20.

The first hypothesis of the police at the scene of the crime is that it is a man in his 50s who has killed his partner, in his 40s, and another older woman ("in his 70s"), who " apparently it has no family relationship with the couple, although it seems to be a friend of the woman.

Later, the man, Fernando Miguel González de Castejón, Count of Atarés and Marquis of Perijáa - in the neighborhood, in fact, he was known as "the count" -, has committed suicide.

The deceased are all Spanish.

The couple has a minor daughter "who is located and is well," according to sources in the case.

The girl, "11 or 12 years old", arrived the same Monday morning from Paris, where she had gone on a trip.

Investigators believe the fatal shots were fired from a pistol.

The bodies were found in different rooms of the house and, due to the way and the place in which the bodies were found, they rule out that he killed the women while they were asleep.

“Everything indicates that he killed his partner with a shot to the head in the kitchen, the friend in the living room, and later he also shot himself in the same place, the weapon falling at his feet, where it has been found. ”, describe sources of the case.

Background for gender violence

According to the same sources, the woman's friend "spent days with her" because she was scared and feared her husband's violent reactions.

Sources of the investigation assure that "the count" had a history of gender violence.

In 2009 he was denounced for mistreating his sister and his mother and a restraining order was imposed on him.

Later, in 2018, the National Police acted ex officio for ill-treatment against his wife, although she withdrew the complaint and they returned to live together.

Fernando Miguel González Castejón was interviewed on several television programs as one of those affected by the recent bankruptcy of Banco Madrid.

“It is an injustice like the top of a pine tree, there are many of us who are at zero potato, including my mother, whom I hope does not have a stroke,” he complained on the sets, assuring that 740,000 euros had been blocked.

The anti-fraud department of the US Treasury considered the Banca Privada de Andorra (BPA), owner of Banco Madrid, as a "financial institution subject to first-order concern in money laundering" and cut off all its operations in dollars, so that he drowned her and took her out of the market.

"I haven't bleached anything, there will be four or five chorizos that are giving us the heck," said González Castejón;

and he joked that his family recommended that he take "some tranquilizers."

Group V of Homicides of the Superior Police Headquarters of Madrid is in charge of the investigation of the events and agents of the Scientific Police are at the scene collecting evidence and vestiges that can help clarify what happened.

The agents had to break down the door to gain access to the house.

At the moment, they have not found other signs of violence in the home, so the possibility of robbery or assault on the apartment by other people is ruled out, in principle.
