The child bonus was launched with the 2022 traffic light relief package: when the payment should be made and who gets the 100 euros.

Berlin – The cost of living has increased significantly for German citizens in everyday life.

This is noticeable in the high prices in the energy sector, but groceries and the financial expenditure for mobility have also skyrocketed.

For this reason, the federal government wants to make everyday life easier for its citizens with the 2022 relief package.

Part of this is the child bonus of 100 euros, which is to be paid out soon.

Children's bonus: when is the payment made - and who gets the 100 euros?

As early as 2020 and the following year 2021, needy families in Germany were given a child bonus by the federal government.

In 2020, the government decided for the first time to grant a child bonus of 300 euros for every child entitled to child benefit in 2020.

The following year, the 2021 child bonus of 150 euros was part of the third Corona Tax Assistance Act.

With the second relief package, a child bonus has now also been decided for the year 2022 - this time in the amount of 100 euros.

The increased energy prices in particular are to be cushioned by the 2022 child bonus for families.

For this purpose, the child benefit will be increased once in July 2022 by 100 euros.

When the subsidy from the child bonus 2022 ends up in the parents' account has not yet been determined to the exact day - but the child bonus should be paid out promptly on the payment dates of the child benefit for the month of July 2022.

Who gets the children's bonus 2022 in July - and who benefits less from the payment?

Every family that is entitled to child benefit in July 2022 will also receive the one-off payment of 100 euros in the form of the child bonus.

However, as in the Corona years 2020 and 2021, the increased child benefit will be offset against the child tax allowance - high earners will therefore benefit less from the special payment.

In the case of social benefits, the child bonus for 2022 is not to be taken into account as income, so Hartz IV recipients also benefit from the one-off payment.

Some families with little money receive additional support in addition to the child bonus: the so-called child supplement for low earners who do not receive Hartz IV will be increased by 20 euros per month and child from July 1, 2022.

This immediate child supplement is intended for children, adolescents and young adults who are entitled to basic security, payments under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act or additional support for living expenses under the Federal Supply Act.

How will the child bonus be paid out in 2022 - and who will receive the bonus child benefit if the parents are separated?

Parents who are entitled to child benefit do not have to apply for the child bonus 2022 - the payment will be made automatically from July and will be initiated by the responsible family benefits office.

In the case of separated parents, the situation is such that the parent who also receives the child benefit receives the 100 euros.

Parents will soon be able to count on the one-time increase in bonus child benefit.

Nothing will change in the original child benefit - but in June 2022 the payment of child benefit will be postponed somewhat due to the public holidays.

As always, child benefit will be paid out on ten different dates in June, with the last digit of the child benefit number determining the date of payment.

In addition to the child bonus 2022, the relief package from German politics contains other grants and discounts that are intended to make life a little easier for Germans.

This includes the 9-euro ticket for bus and train, with which users have been able to travel through Germany for a ridiculously low price since June – and possibly even until December.

Also included is a flat-rate energy price, which is intended to cushion the exploding energy costs, the already applicable tank discount, which apparently fizzles out as a fuel price brake for petrol and diesel, and a subsidy for Hartz IV recipients of 200 euros.
