The general corona vaccination has failed.

But since mid-March, nursing staff have needed proof of vaccination, otherwise they could be released from work.

Now it's getting serious - but in some circles it's more likely to play for time.

Stuttgart – Three months after the beginning of the corona vaccination obligation for employees in retirement homes and clinics, only a few fines have been imposed on unvaccinated nursing staff in the southwest.

The Ministry of Social Affairs is now following up with a survey at the health authorities.

The query should be completed this Monday and then evaluated, said a spokeswoman for the German Press Agency in Stuttgart.

Although the circles have a lot of leeway when dealing with unvaccinated employees, the main thing is to protect the old and sick in homes and hospitals.

So far, 81 procedures have been initiated in the Calw district, and fines have been issued in 15 cases, a spokeswoman for the German Press Agency said.

Those affected have to pay 250 euros and expect that they may no longer be allowed to work on the patient in their job by the end of the year or may even be completely released.

The Karlsruhe district office recently forwarded procedures for initiating a fine in the double-digit range to the fines office of the city of Karlsruhe.

A fine was threatened in around 80 cases in the Reutlingen district.

In the past few weeks, tens of thousands of employees have reported to the health authorities without proof of vaccination, but the procedures are still ongoing in many districts, according to a dpa survey.

This applies, for example, to Mannheim, Tübingen, the Enz district or the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald.

From the point of view of Joachim Walter, President of the District Council, the obligation to vaccinate threatens to exacerbate the nursing shortage in the country.

He urges the rule to be suspended.
