The premiere was a success, this year there is the second edition: This week the Starnberg Cultural Summer starts with the first events.

Advance ticket sales are on and for the first time there is also a summer of culture especially for children.

However, part of the program at a new venue is still pending.

– concerts, performances, exhibitions, plays and programs for children and young people make up this year's Starnberg cultural summer, which begins with a concert by Ami and Wally Warning just in time for the beginning of summer.

New this year are offers for children - and concerts in the Bucentaurpark.

The city plans to publish the exact program for this this week.

These dates are fixed:

  • Thursday, June 23, 7 p.m., Munich Rowing and Sailing Club: Ami and Wally Warning start the series of events with reggae, groove and soul.

    "With hopefully the best summer weather, good conversations and refreshing drinks, the guests can perfectly get in the mood for this year's Starnberg cultural summer," explains city hall spokeswoman Lena Choi.

    Admission is free.

  • Friday, June 24, 6:30 p.m., Breitwand cinema: With artistically processed film and photo excerpts staged by the artist Manuela Hartel, live music by David Schwarz (piano/electronics) and Maren Kessler as the actress, viewers get to see the performance “Marlene Dietrich - a performative music revue" an extraordinary insight into the life of the exceptional artist Marlene Dietrich.

    This event takes place in cooperation with the Petra Kelly Foundation.

  • Friday, June 24, 9:30 p.m., Castle Garden: Together with “KunstRäume am See”, the city invites you to a “magical, musical-lyrical nocturne under the open sky” for this evening under the title “Dream Star Sleep” with Josef Breastmann.

  • Saturday, June 25, 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., Munich Rowing and Sailing Club: A Latin American dance workshop marks the beginning, from 8:30 p.m. from "El Flecha Negra" participants can immediately put into practice what they have learned.

    The professional musicians, guests at many festivals, mix traditional cumbia and reggae with modern mestizo and Peruvian chicha sounds, according to the city's description.

  • Wednesday, June 29, 6:30 p.m., Garten Museum Starnberger See: The Bavarian singer-songwriter Maxi Pongratz, known as the head of "Kofelgschroa", presents his new album "Meine Angst".

New this year are special offers for children.

Together with the music group "Vederspyl", young and old listeners can embark on an exciting journey into the Middle Ages, to damsels, knights and traveling musicians on Sunday, July 3rd, from 5 p.m.

The family concert "From castle to castle - with traveling musicians through the Middle Ages" takes place in the courtyard of Starnberg Castle.

There is a children's culture stage at the Bucentaurpark especially for smaller children from the age of three, where the puppeteer Nicole Weißbrodt (Theater LaKritz) will be showing her finger puppet theater "Sleeping Beauty" on Friday, July 8th from 4 p.m.

The supporting program of the 35-minute children's play puts everyone in a good mood: in addition to a hand puppet exhibition by students from the technical academy for social education at the vocational school, there is face painting and a small ice cream party.

Culture stage also at the Bucentaurpark

In addition to the children's stage, there is also a large one at Bucentaurpark, which will be used from July.

First dates there: At the opening on Friday, July 1, from 6 p.m., “Key for Two” will play the piano for four hands.

Admission is free, the area is covered - so the weather doesn't matter.

After that there is a program on stage almost every day, such as a session of young musicians (July 2nd), a concert by "Ladylike" (July 3rd) or the "Upstroke Music Collectif" (July 6th).

The city will announce details of the cultural summer in the park and the term there this week.

Tickets, if necessary, can be purchased online via the events calendar at www.starnberg.de.

Maps are also available from the Tourist Information Starnberg (Hauptstrasse 1).

If the ticket contingent is not exhausted, the tickets can also be purchased at the box office (surcharge: two euros), the city announced.

If admission is free, spectators will be admitted up to the permitted upper limit.

If it rains on a date, cardholders will be informed of the alternative location;

some events are weather-independent.
