The public hearings on the storming of the Capitol prove that Donald Trump knew he was breaking the law - just like his daughter Ivanka.

Washington DC - In the US capital, everything has been about one thing for days: What happened on January 6th, the day a mob stormed the Capitol, not far from the White House?

What did Donald Trump do and who knew what?

Over the past week, numerous confidants and family members of the former president have appeared before the Congressional Committee of Inquiry.

Their statements - under oath - brought to light numerous incriminating details.

The statement by Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump was awaited with particular excitement.

Her father's former White House aide has said she doesn't believe in the grand election fraud her father has been using as an excuse since losing to Joe Biden.

She believed the words of then Attorney General William Barr, who saw no evidence for Trump's claims.

Her husband Jared Kushner, also a White House adviser, agrees.

He tried - unsuccessfully - to convince Donald Trump to stop listening to his former lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who kept babbling about clear evidence of voter fraud.

Donald Trump attacks Ivanka Trump

Donald Trump reacted extremely piqued to his daughter's words.

“Ivanka Trump was not involved in the process of examining and studying the election results.

She was already checked out at that point," Trump said in a statement.

Tim O'Brien, author of the Trump biography "Trump Nation - The Art of Being Donald" now contradicts this.

When asked if Ivanka's testimony suggests that she had a "bad feeling" from the start about the demonstration, dubbed "Stop the Steal," her father had called for and which later took place in the storming of the Capitol and culminated in the deaths of five people.

"Absolutely.

We know from other testimonies what she did that day and that she honored the fact that Mike Pence stood up to pressure from Donald Trump," O'Brien said.

“She was in the Oval Office with numerous other advisors.

She heard [Donald Trump] yelling and swearing at Mike Pence for not wanting to do what Trump asked him to do, which was break the law.”

Donald Trump knew he would break the law

At that point, the scope of his actions must have been clear to both Donald Trump himself and his daughter Ivanka Trump.

According to their statements, several of his lawyers had informed him that his project was illegal.

But that didn't seem to deter Donald Trump, as O'Brien describes: "He knew it was illegal, but he still put pressure on Mike Pence.

And he did this in front of a number of witnesses, including his daughter.” (Daniel Dillmann)
