The heat wave also hit Bavaria on Sunday.

High UV radiation and extreme temperatures are worth a weather warning from the DWD.

In addition, it storms in the northwest.

Update from June 19, 6:54 p.m .:

Germany and Bavaria are currently suffering from an enormous heat wave.

While almost 40 degrees are sometimes reached in northern Germany on Sunday, the highest value was measured on Saturday in the Möhrendorf district of Kleinseebach in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district: 36.8 degrees.

This is reported by the BR, citing the German weather service in Munich.

Update from June 19, 4:32 p.m .:

The official heat warnings in Bavaria have now become fewer.

A warning had been issued in almost all of Bavaria in the morning (see previous update), but now only the north-west of the Free State is affected.

From Dinkelsbühl via Ansbach, Nuremberg, to the north of Bamberg, however, an official heat warning is still in effect until 7 p.m.

In addition, there is a very high risk of forest fires in northern Bavaria.

According to the DWD, warning level five out of five has been issued here.

Update from June 19, 9.47 a.m .:

The morning in Bavaria is just beginning and in many places the thermometer is already at 30 degrees and more.

Today's Sunday will be the hottest day of the year so far in many regions.

If you take a look at the weather map from wetteronline.de, you only see small, yellow sun symbols.

Not a cloud in the Bavarian sky.

And values above 35 degrees flash there regularly.

This is how warm it will be in these cities today:

  • Munich: 33 degrees

  • Nuremberg: 36 degrees

  • Augsburg: 33 degrees

  • Regensburg: 34 degrees

  • Ingolstadt: 35 degrees

  • Passau: 34 degrees

  • Würzburg: 36 degrees

  • Yard: 34 degrees

  • Kempten: 32 degrees

  • Berchtesgaden 31 degrees

Weather in Bavaria: DWD warns in many regions of the Free State

So the last day of Whitsun holidays has it all again.

Cooling from above cannot be seen far and wide.

The only thing that helps is a dip in the nearest lake or in the outdoor pool.

But the idyllic midsummer heat also harbors dangers.

The German Weather Service has issued warnings for almost the entire Free State.

The UV exposure in large parts of Bavaria is extremely high.

The DWD warning card for Sunday looks pretty colorful.

But colorful is not really nice in this case.

Only for the small green stripe in the middle of Bavaria there is no weather warning.

The rest of the Free State needs to be careful.

In the pink-colored area in the south and north-east, an "official warning of increased UV intensity" applies.

Between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., longer stays outdoors should be avoided.

Clothing or at least sunscreen with SPF 30 is recommended.

Sunglasses to protect your eyes are also useful.
