The topic of foreign policy heated up at the federal party conference of the AfD in Riesa.
For Alexander Gauland, one thing is clear: cooperation in the party executive must improve.
Düsseldorf - The honorary chairman of the AfD, Alexander Gauland, has called on the party to end its internal disputes.
“It is important to finally put the issues that move people back at the center of our work.
And not the argument," said the 81-year-old of the "Rheinische Post".
For him it was clear that the cooperation in the federal executive board had to be significantly better.
The AfD should now focus its work on the issues of the economy, inflation, peace policy "and the desolate organization of Europe".
At the end of the federal party conference of the AfD in Riesa, Saxony, there was a heated argument about foreign policy on Sunday.
The party congress ended without agreement on this central issue.
Gauland himself had supported a motion that led to the dispute.
The draft resolution advocates, among other things, a "consensual dissolution of the EU", which is described as a "misguided and dysfunctional political entity".
The party congress elected Tino Chrupalla and Alice Weidel, who already jointly lead the parliamentary group, as co-chairs at the head of the AfD.
In the elections for the 14-member board, the two largely pushed through their candidates, who failed from the more moderate camp.
