The National Assembly of Ecuador is analyzing whether to lift the state of emergency decreed by President Guillermo Lasso last Friday.
"We cannot allow a few violent people to prevent millions of Ecuadorians from working," Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso said on the eighth day of protests in that country.
For his part, Patricio Carrillo, Minister of the Interior of Ecuador, said that “we have protected Quito for seven days.
We have made every effort and we will continue to make efforts, but we cannot make polarizing and racist calls either.
Social protest is guaranteed in the Constitution and we must do it within these mechanisms.
