Visitors and organizers were very satisfied with the premiere of the multi-day rockabilly festival, which took place in Peiting over the weekend.

Music fans could hear half a dozen bands and enjoy an extensive supporting program in the Schloßberghalle.

Peiting

– organizer Jürgen Schallhammer has fulfilled a long-cherished dream with this meeting.

"I've been in the scene for a decade and a half and I wanted to put something on stage in autumn 2020," he says, but the corona pandemic threw a spanner in the works for him too.

He and his helpers were all the more pleased that their work was now rewarded with optimal weather conditions.

Chic vintage cars gleamed in the summer sun in the car park in front of the Schloßberghalle, and numerous visitors made themselves comfortable in the outdoor area with cocktails and hot dogs.

An attractive supporting program was offered on several days in Peiting with a flea market, various workshops and dealer stands, where there were, among other things, Hawaiian shirts, jewelery and other accessories that are indispensable for real fans.

Not just music, but lifestyle

These include Markus and his partner Vegas from Dachau, for whom rockabilly is not only a music, but also a lifestyle: "We travel the world to report on festivals for social media," says the couple.

"It's great that there's finally something like this in Upper Bavaria!"

With bleached hair and artificial eyelashes, piercings and tattoos, Vegas looks like a man's dream come alive from an old Playboy magazine, but many other dancers had also dressed up for Peiting.

This feast for the eyes was accompanied by a loud feast for the ears on two evenings: half a dozen bands heated up the couples, from the "boogie philistines" to the "Ukelites" with their Hawaiian swing.

A highlight was the energetic show by the six-piece group "Gone Hepsville" from the Czech Republic: The band, which featured two saxophones, played a selection of their own pieces from their two CDs - a sweat-inducing pleasure for the enthusiastic listeners.

Rock 'n' roll revival?

"Chris Aron and the Croakers" also conveyed an authentic Fifties feeling during their performance: The band leader has adopted Elvis Presley's middle name and thus expresses his musical preference.

Smelly evil in the middle of Peiting triggers a special military operation

According to Jürgen Schallhammer, the new Elvis film, which will hit the cinemas next Thursday, and the great interest in the Peitinger Festival could be an indication that there is a new rock'n'roll revival.

"A journey back in time to the era of petticoats and pin-up girls is a welcome distraction from all the problems and crises of our day." And so all fifties fans can hope for a repeat of the extremely successful Peitingen premiere.
