Figures from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection of Mexico reveal that between January and May of this year, just over 12,700 intentional homicides were registered in the country, and that this crime had an uptick between April and May.
The authorities did not explain the possible reasons for this increase in the murder figures.
