Israel's government wants to start new elections

The Israeli government wants to dissolve parliament. The result would be new elections. Until then, the previous foreign minister, Lapid, is to serve as prime minister.

The Israeli government coalition wants to dissolve parliament and thus initiate new elections.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Foreign Minister Jair Lapid announced on Monday that they would submit a corresponding bill to Parliament next week.

All "attempts to stabilize the coalition" had been "exhausted," it said.
