After the political bomb dropped tonight (Monday) by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, with the announcement of their intention to dissolve the Knesset, quite a few questions arise about the composition of the political map.
Immediately after the dissolution of the Knesset, the government will function as a transitional government until the elections, and will be headed by Lapid, who will take up his post after the rotation, and will continue to serve as foreign minister.
Bennett will serve as deputy prime minister and serve as minister holding the "Iran portfolio."
Lapid will enter the post of transition prime minister during the election period, immediately after the law is approved on second and third reading.
The
rotation agreement stipulated that Lapid would become prime minister of the transition, only if two of the MKs in Bennett's bloc supported the dissolution of the Knesset, but because Bennett decided to overthrow the government himself, he decided to transfer the rotation to him anyway.
The coalition, so they decided to advance next week the bill to dissolve the Knesset.
