It is an old Munich tradition and has now been held again on the Kurhaus terrace: the Kocherlball attracted people to dance with marches, waltzes, polkas and mazurkas.
Bad Tölz
– The Tölzer Kocherlball is not for late risers. After a two-year Corona break, it took place again on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the terrace of the Kurhaus.
A large crowd of followers of this traditional dance entertainment had come to Bad Tölz from near and far.
Kocherl balls became fashionable in Munich more than 100 years ago: The “little people”, i.e. the servants (cooks, servants, errand messengers) of the “rather gentlemen” came there to dance and get to know each other, then it was straight back to work.
Today's audience also enjoys the very special atmosphere and the charm of this old Munich dance pleasure.
Couples dressed in the style of the "good old days" were inspired by the "Musicanti Ballorchester" and dance master Philipp Korda.
They danced to the immortal catchy tunes of the Danube monarchy with marches, waltzes, polkas, mazurkas and Munich française.
Almost everyone also took part in the rather complicated courtly burlesque formation dances.
Kocherlball as part of the "City with a special touch"
The Kocherlball in Bad Tölz was revived in 2014 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Kurhaus.
It is part of a remarkable cultural concept under the brand name "City with a special touch".
It was developed in close cooperation with local artists and the Tölz music school and brings a rich program to the stage for locals and guests of all ages and interest groups with free admission.
Already on Wednesday, June 22, at 7.30 p.m., the “Sonatori di Tollenze” will be performing in the Small Kursaal with music from the Middle Ages to the Baroque.
