PolyU HKCC offers 37 full-time associate degree and higher diploma programmes in the 2022/23 academic year to meet the society's demand for talents.

Since the establishment of the college in 2001, more than 34,000 sub-degree graduates have progressed to bachelor's degree programmes, with an average progression rate of 83.5%.

In order to encourage working people who have not continued their studies due to various reasons to return to school, obtain sub-degree qualifications, and then move on to the bachelor's degree program, the School has established the "Back to School Scholarship" since 2019 to encourage working people to continue their studies and add value, and at the same time contribute to the society. There were 58 winners of the "Back to School Scholarship" in the past three years, with an average GPA of 3.68. Most of the winners have successfully progressed to a bachelor's degree program after graduation.

As for the 20 winners of this year's "Back to School Scholarship", the results are also very good, and some students even achieved the highest GPA of 4.0.

The Faculty has added 18 merit award places this year to encourage more students.

Liu Xuye, who is studying the Associate of Applied Social Sciences (Psychology) programme at PolyU HKCC, is the recipient of the Back-to-School Scholarship.

He used to be in the insurance industry. After graduating from middle school, he joined the society for nearly 8 years, until 3 years ago, he began to consider returning to school.

Xuye said: "Because I realize that the industry is becoming more professional, the requirements for academic qualifications have increased unabated. The threshold for new recruits has reached college graduation, and the same is true for obtaining a license. For long-term career development, I hope to obtain a higher education as soon as possible, so Keep adding value to yourself. Although I have many years of work experience, it will be more difficult to be promoted to management in the future due to the lack of academic qualifications.”

Under the epidemic, many industries were almost shut down, but it gave Xuye an opportunity to return to school. "I want to make good use of this time to study and add value to myself, and my ultimate goal is to progress to a bachelor's degree program in psychology." Another winner of the "Back to School Scholarship", Shi Yihong, is currently studying for an associate degree in information technology. He admitted that after completing the DSE exam, he did not set a goal for further studies and planned to join social work first.

After working in the social welfare sector for 4 years, he became interested in information technology and decided to return to school: "I found myself good at dealing with IT problems at work, and even began to teach myself to write programs and automate certain work procedures. Shi Yihong praised the "Back to School Scholarship" for helping ease his financial burden.
