"Hell on Earth": Punks continue to cause chaos on Sylt - preliminary arrests

Even after Pentecost there are still many punks on Sylt.
They cause chaos, preliminary arrests and harsh criticism - but not for everyone.
Sylt – “Drink, drink, just drink every day!” is the name of a song by the German punk band Betontod.
It is also the motto of the Anarchist Pogo Party of Germany (APPD).
On the celebrity island of Sylt, some of the punks who are currently staying there apparently took the verse-form desire for the golden beer all too literally.
They went beyond what was allowed, reports 24hamburg.de.
The North Sea island has just finished the long Pentecost weekend - and with it the first rush of guests who had come to the island with the 9-euro ticket, there were also arguments on Sylt in the days that followed, in which the police had to be called for help.

At Pentecost, after arriving with the 9-euro ticket, they then ensured iconic photos in the Westerland pedestrian zone - and one or the other operation by the Sylt police.
Pentecost is long gone, the punks are still there - and with them the chaos, apparently.
And resentment among one or the other islander.
According to the media, 30 to 40 punks are currently still on the island.
And according to information from t-online and the Bild newspaper, they continue to provide work for the police on Sylt, where the Harley Days take place on the weekend after Pentecost.

Among other things, an operation in the pedestrian zone of Westerland after a punk had spontaneously exchanged the Sylt flag hoisted in front of a restaurant for an APPD flag.
When the police moved in to take down the APPD flag, the punk grumbled, was sent off and, after failing to comply, was taken into custody.
In addition, according to the Hamburger Abendblatt, a 29-year-old was taken into custody for a fight.
"To prevent further crimes," said the police.

But not everyone shares Schreiber's assessment of the days of chaos on Sylt, which were caused by the 9-euro ticket.
At least according to a t-online survey among Sylt restaurateurs and business people.
Because the tenor of the survey is that the punks who are currently in Westerland are drunk, but peaceful and relaxed.
And the police cannot confirm chaotic conditions on Sylt as a result of the punk invasion that triggered the 9-euro ticket.
