The Syrian sports delegation will participate in the Mediterranean Games, hosted by the Algerian city of Oran on the twenty-fifth of this month, with seven games: boxing, wrestling, judo, athletics, gymnastics, weightlifting and equestrian.
During his meeting with the mission today at the headquarters of the General Sports Federation in Damascus, the President of the General Sports Federation, Firas Mualla, expressed his confidence in the players of our teams to compete strongly for the first places and achieve honorable results for the Syrian sport, which has always proven its presence strongly in the continental tournaments.
In a statement to SANA, Mualla said, "Our players' preparations for the tournament were perfect, as our teams entered long training camps that contributed to raising the skill level of the players, because the goal of participation is to achieve results, not with the intention of friction and gaining experience."
Mualla added: Our players do not lack experience and can compete vigorously and achieve brilliant medals in this huge continental sporting event, noting that the mission includes a group of distinguished players. He won its gold in the last edition with great ambition to repeat his achievement and we count on the rest of our players to achieve achievements in the rest of the games.
The head of the General Sports Federation indicated that the federation allocated the winners of the Mediterranean tournament with rewarding material rewards. The gold medalist will receive 15 million pounds, the silver 10 million pounds, and the bronze 7 million pounds.
The common denominator between the players seems to be winning bright medals, each in his game, as they showed their readiness to compete and exert their utmost efforts to reach the podiums and raise the Syrian flag high in this important forum that athletes await every four years.
