The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to provide the necessary support to secure the rights of Palestinian refugees, especially the right of return, and the implementation of relevant UN resolutions.
In a statement on the occasion of World Refugee Day reported by the Palestinian Wafa Agency, the ministry stressed the importance of ensuring protection and care for refugees and ways to preserve their rights guaranteed by international conventions, whose number today amounts to more than 6.2 million refugees.
The ministry said: The Palestinian leadership is working to preserve the rights of Palestinian refugees, foremost of which is the right to return to their homes, and rejects all attempts to detract from any of their rights or impose solutions that are inconsistent with the individual and collective rights of the Palestinian people.
The ministry pointed out that the unjustified and increasing attacks on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) come in the context of continuous attempts to undermine its mandate and work, stop support for it, and divert attention from the crimes and violations of the occupation that have continued since the Nakba in 1948.
The ministry called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in confronting these violations and crimes committed against refugees wherever they are and from any party, and to enable them to exercise their right to return to their homes as soon as possible away from the policy of double standards and selective application of international law.
