The 41-year-old speleologist who fell 120 meters deep and wounded yesterday in the Rotolo cave in the territory of Monopoli, in the Bari area, was recovered.
She announced the Apulia Alpine and Speleological Rescue.
"The technicians, after having worked continuously since yesterday evening, handed over - it is written in the press release - Emanuela to the care of the 118".
The woman was greeted by applause as soon as she came out of the opening hole of the cave, recovered by expert speleologists who had already arrived last night from three regions, Puglia, Basilicata and Campania.
The woman was in a harness but not on a stretcher, with her injured arm bandaged and she appeared in good condition.
"It was a great emotion - comments the president Gianni Grassi - to see it re-emerge from the bowels of the earth after 26 long and hard hours for the 40 health workers and technicians of the Alpine and Speleological Rescue who gave everything for this extraordinary result".
The speleologist had descended into the cave at dawn yesterday with a group of ten people for a pre-exploration activity and for the transport of material and equipment, including oxygen cylinders, in anticipation of a future speleosubwater exploration in the aquifer below.
"This is the deepest cave in Puglia - explains the regional president of the Alpine and Speleological Rescue, Gianni Grassi - and the group had about 700 meters made up of many narrow and tortuous passages".
The point where the 41-year-old was injured, around 6 pm yesterday when the rescuers were then alerted, "is at a depth of 120 meters".
